Project Description

This 29 Jalan Sempadan project was for a family of 5, a couple with 2 daughters and 1 helper. This is the 3rd time we are doing the renovations for this couple, the 1st time was for their BTO when they were newlyweds, and the 2nd time was for their first shifting. We are very happy and proud to have earned their continuous trust as their interior designer.

Design approach

Thom Signature Reviews: The 29 Jalan Sempadan unit is a 2 bedder resale unit actually has a lot of spacious areas. Our renovation covered the 2 bathrooms, the kitchen overhaul, bedrooms and living room. The couple wanted to implement a concept of a modern farmhouse style, which is actually inspired by some of the pre-existing furniture that they brought along from their previous home. They opted for a white and lightwood color due to some lighting constraints in living room.

Living Room: The original layout is a very elongated living and dining area. For the living room area, the husband wanted to have a segregated study area in living room which is near the balcony area. Thus we built a unique screen as a vertical divider, that can

be adjusted to allow in some light. A significant amount of time was spent on this design and implementation.

Kitchen: dining area and dry pantry, sliding door to enclose wet kitchen. interestingly, kitchen was odd shaped. We carve out a triangular cabinet that aligned with the dining table that make it perpendicularly against the storage cabinet

Entrance Area: shaker door near entry area with ratan finish, peg board gives homey vibes when they come home

Bedrooms: For the daughter’s room, there is an off-shelf bunk bed, wardrobe and study table for all the daughter’s needs.

For the Master bedroom, we had to account for the odd formation at front of bed area. The solution was elegant: carve out double sliding door to allow for a walk-in wardrobe and study area.

Bathrooms: For the bathrooms, we utilised a beautiful color scheme. We introduced leaf pattern tiles to the common bathroom for a more natural feel.

For the Master bedroom, we added a semi tall storage cabinet in the bathroom so that the space at the top was well utilised.
